Butterflies fauna (Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera) of meadow communities of Huta Krempska Protection District in the Magurski National Park

Journal Title: Roczniki Bieszczadzkie - Year 2011, Vol 19, Issue 1

Abstract

In summer 2009 and 2010, the fauna of butterflies of the meadows complex within Magurski National Park was studied (49°29’N, 21°30’ E). This was the first inventory of butterflies in this area. Butterflies have been studied along transects of a total length of 25 494 meters. Thirty two butterfly species were found (1724 individuals). The relative abundance of each species at 1000 m ranged between 0.1–103.3 individuals. The species composition of butterflies was analysed by means of Shannon-Wiener index and Sørensen similarity index. Taking into account locality and conservation status, this area is very important for monitoring of butterflies in the Magurski National Park.
