Centrifugal cast microstructure of semisolid hypereutectic high chromium cast iron and its quantitative Analysis

Abstract

For the semisolid slurry of hypereutectic high chromium cast iron prepared by slope cooling body method, it is fabricated into the semisolid annular part by centrifugal casting method in this paper. The microstructure is observed by SEM. The result indicates that there is obvious segregation phenomenon of primary carbides along the radial direction, and then the segregation dividing line appears, which locates the distance of about 6mm from the radial outer face of the annular part. For the purpose to illuminate segregation characteristics of the carbides, the changing rule of the equivalent diameter and volume fraction of carbides in different segregation fields is quantitatively analyzed by a leica image analyzer, and the result also indicates the equivalent diameter and volume fraction of carbides increases gradually from radial outer face to inner one.
