Abstract
Environmental problems increasing day by day, require taking some precautions of governments. At this point, governments have been trying to struggle with environmental problems by taxes as guiding instruments. Today, 20 European Union member countries working for increasing the usage of environmentally friendly fuels and vehicles by CO2 based motor vehicle taxes. Within this framework, rearrangement of motor vehicle tax has been started recently in Turkey also. This study aims to investigate CO2 based motor vehicle tax applications of EU member countries particularly Germany and England as model countries of Turkey.
