Changes in taxon composition of the Ukrainian avifauna for the last ten years
Journal Title: Бранта: Сборник научных трудов Азово-Черноморской орнитологической станции - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue
Abstract
Currently, foreign western ornithologists use mainly the classification system presented in the publication «Handbook of the Birds of the World». This publication is informative and contains new data on the classification of birds that are usually based on cytogenetic studies. Therefore, the purpose of the publication was to show the differences between the classification systems, which nowadays are used in our country and the English-language publication about birds of the world. Among the differences, we highlighted traditional and new ones. The first of these difernces relate to specific taxa belonging to subspecies, species, genus, subfamilies, families or orders, and the second – clarification of «species» origin of specific taxa (mainly genetically confirmed), and accordingly to the analysis of their range of their distribution. We have analyzed all available published data on the registration of new species of birds in the last decade in Ukraine.changes in avifauna, taxonomy, Ukraine
