CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MONOLOGICAL ARGUMENTATION IN THE TEXT OF "THE HISTORIES" BY HERODOTUS AND THE MEANS OF ITS INTENSIFICATION

Abstract
The article examines the key monologues from ‘The Histories’ by Herodotus, which illustrate the diversity of the monologues encountered in the book. Upon the analysis of the argumentation structure, the key elements of argumentation and corresponding schemes have been elaborated. The whole range of syntactic and stylistic structures have been found which made the argumentation effective; the stylistic dominant has been identified and the coefficient of concentration of stylistic means for every monologue has been identified.
