Journal Title: WORLD JOURNAL PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
Poison has been polluting human and non-human forms since antiquity. Our acharyas had given a separate place for Agadtantra that deals with the management of animate and inanimate poisoning. Since ancient time Agadtantra was so popular and important that it was given an eminent place in Astanga ayurveda. Asayurveda is based on unique pillars of tridosa and prakriti, keeping this in mind Acharya Charaka coined the line of management in case of any such kind of poisoning and termed it “CHATURVIMSHATI UPKRAMA”. This present article is a step to evaluate and establish ancient modality and to see that to what an extent it is still applicable in this present era. It is found that Modern techniques have only aided to the ancient modality (chaturvimshati upkrama) in form of equipments, methodology, and investigations.
