Abstract
Characteristics and manifestations of radicalization and violence extremismand its solutions in the context of the building of a cohesive societyDifferent approaches to the problem of radicalization and violent extremism are used in different European countries. The aim of our contribution is, reflecting these experiences, to identify the key features, expressions and possibilities of tackling extremism and radicalizationin the context of building a cohesive soci-ety. Extremism can be perceived as an organized intolerance, manifested above all by intolerance or by hostility to difference. The characteristics of extremists can also be differentiated according to the individual's belonging to different kinds of extremism. It is very difficult to classify expressions of extremism, es-pecially because it is quite problematic to determine the boundary between normality and extremism. In choosing measures and instruments aimed at elim-inating violent expressions and radicalization, in the context of building a cohe-sive society, we should primarily support non-repressive methods of stake-holder work, increasing the security standard of the population and avoiding risky phenomena, unemployment, poverty, or interetnical social tension.
