Journal Title: REVISTA CHILENA DE ENTOMOLOGÍA - Year 2022, Vol 48, Issue 4

Abstract

The genus Chileosalpingus nov. gen. is proposed to host two species previously known from Chile: Salpingus anthracinus Fairmaire & Germain, 1861 and Rhinosimus brevirostris Fairmaire & Germain, 1863. Two new combinations are established: Chileosalpingus anthacinus (Fairmaire & Germain, 1861) nov. comb. and Chileosalpingus brevirostris (Fairmaire & Germain, 1863) nov. comb. The new genus is described and the two attached species are redescribed. A key is provided to distinguish the species as well as images of the adult and various differential structures The affinities and differences of Chileosalpingus with the genus Oncosalpingus Blair, 1919 are discussed.
