Circular Fashion in the Context of Sustainability: Examining the Purchase Intention Second Hand Clothes from the Perspective of Consumption Values

Abstract

In this study, it is emphasized the potential of circular fashion, which aims to "zero waste" in order to protect nature, to reduce the footprint of fashion by extending the life cycles of clothes. In this context, the study aimed to investigate, the effects of consumption values on purchase intention to the second-hand clothing. The scale developed by Lin and Huang (2012) was used to evaluate the perceptions of consumption values, and the scale developed by Kumar et al., (2017) was used to evaluate second-hand clothing purchase intention. An online questionnaire were applied by social media platforms between 1-30 September 2022. The hypotheses of the model were tested using by Partial Least Squares Path analize to the data obtained from 425 participants. The findings are likely to be of interest to second-hand clothing market stakeholders. At the same time, it is thought that the results will give a second chance to used clothes and contribute to the relevant literature. As a result, it was seen that Consumption Values Scale dimensions had significant and positive effects on second-hand clothing purchase intentions.
