Clase esqueletal e inclinación dental en pacientes con labio y paladar hendido

Abstract
The research work aimed to determine the differences of skeletal type and dental inclination that are exhibited by comparing cephalometric measurements of people with cleft lip and palate and people with absence of any orofacial disorder. The study was observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional, using lateral skull radiographs on file in the medical records of 20 individuals with cleft lip and palate versus 20 individuals without orofacial problems, aged 6 to 16. The cephalometric analyzes were carried out manually, where 100% of the patients with lip and palate presented skeletal class III, while individuals with absence of any orofacial disorder represented 50% of skeletal class I, 35% skeletal class II and 15% skeletal class III. The predominant dental inclination for individuals with cleft lip and palate was pro-inclination for the lower incisor and retro inclination for the upper incisor, while the control group presented greater pro inclination in the upper incisor and normal inclination for the lower incisor. It was established statistically significant differences in the inclination of the upper incisor of the control group and the study group (p = 0.002; t = 3.25; gl = 38), in addition, statistically significant differences between the bone discrepancy of the control group and the bone discrepancy of the study group (p = 0.00; U = 9).
