Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Surgery - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3

Abstract

Background: In elderly age group we come across benign enlargement of prostate, leading to chronic straining during micturition causing increased intra abdominal pressure leading to weakness in the inguinal musculature consequently leading to inguinal hernia. The incidence of inguinal hernia also increases with age. Increased frequency observed in 78%, dribbling urination in 47%, burning micturition in 41%, nocturia (35%) and pain in abdomen in 13%.
