Clinico-epidemiological behavior of periodontal diseases in the municipality of Baracoa, Guantanamo

Abstract
A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in "Ramón Guevara Montano" Stomatology Clinic from September 2015 to May 2016 with the objective of characterizing the epidemiological behavior of periodontal diseases in the population. The periodontal status of the individuals according to sex was evaluated and the Russell Periodontal Index was used. The universe consisted of 400 patients from which a probabilistic sample was selected by simple random sampling (MAS) of 80 patients. The female sex predominated, the most significant age group was of 40-49 years, with established periodontitis manifesting, it was this type of periodontal disease that most afflicted patients.
