Colonic Motor Dysfunction in Children with Chronicle Constipation: Electrophysiological Aspects
Journal Title: Здоров`я дитини - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 62
Abstract
Objective — to study соlonic electrical activity in children with chronic constipation. Patients and Methods. 63 children with chronic constipation (main group) and 30 apparently healthy children (control group) were observed. All patients underwent investigation of colonic electrical activity by the method of electroenterography. Condition of the intestinal mucosa was studied using endoscopy. Results. Four types of violations in colonic electrical activity were identified in children with chronic constipation. Predominant violation of colonic electrical activity is increased total preprandial and reduced postprandial electrical potential. It is found that in children with inflammation in the colonic mucosa, preprandial electrical activity is higher compared with a group of children, who hadn’t proctosigmoiditis, that leads to a decrease in the propulsive activity of the colon after food stimulation. Conclusions. Different types of violations in colonic electrical activity require a differentiated approach to the correction of its motor function. The principles of treatment for chronic constipation in children at every type of violation in colonic electrical activity were offered.
