Comparative analysis of performance test results in Silesian stallions – new approach

Abstract

The aim of the study was a project to standardize results of performance tests in Sile-sian stallions. Statistical analysis referred to the results of the final test after training at the Train-ing Center of the Silesian breed in the years 2007–2014. Common traits, which were assessed for each age group of stallions, were separated. Subsequently, those characteristics were assigned the multipliers designated by breeders. On the basis of common traits, the performance test and the designated multipliers a method of standardization of performance test results in Silesian stallions was proposed. Dressage test, speed test in trot, strength test, character and behavior, suitability for driving use, walk in carriage, trot in carriage are a group of common features evaluated during the performance test of Silesian stallions in the years 2007–2014. According to the opinion of selected Silesian horse breeders, the most important common features were dressage test, walking and trotting in carriage, as well as conformation, which should in future be a part of the final result of the performance test for Silesian stallions.
