Comparative study of bupivacain and levobupivacain for subarachnoid block in caessarian section

Journal Title: MedPulse -International Medical Journal - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 8

Abstract

Introduction: Intrathecal anesthesia in caesarean sections has become an established technique the levorotatory isomers were shown to have a safer pharmacological profile so, present study is done to study the various anesthetic properties of Levobupivacain and Bupivacain for using in sub arachnoid block. Aims and Objective: Current study done with an objective to see the various anesthetic properties of Levobupivacain versus Bupivacain insubarachnoid Block in Caesarian Section Methodology: The present one year prospective randomized clinical trial was conducted in the department of anaesthesiology during the period of.. on 90, Obstetric patients undergoing Cesarean section under spinal anesthesia (Subarachnoid Blok)were enrolled into the study. The patients were randomly allocated into two groups, Group A (Bupivacain) and Group B (Levobupivacain) of 45 each by computer generated randomization. Result : The onset of sensory block was not significantly different in Group A compared to Group B (p>0.05), but the onset motor block was significantly faster in Group B compared to Group A (p<0.05).The duration of sensory and motor block were significantlysss more in Group B as Compared to Group A (p<0.05) Conclusion: From our study, we conclude that, use of Levobupivacain group has better results as compared to Bupivacain group in the form of faster onset of motor block, longer duration of sensory block, longer duration of motor block. Safe Pharmacological properties.
