Comparing the Identity Styles among the Male Addicts and Non-Addicts in Urmia City

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to compare the identity styles among the male addicts and non-addicts in Urmia. The statistical population comprised of all male addicted to the abuse of opioid who referred to addiction treatment clinics, namely, Shafakhane, Aramesh, and Mehrdad whose age range was 20 to 35. The sample size was determined as 160 and the study followed an observation process. To collect the data, identity styles scale, CISS questionnaire developed by Andler and Parker, and researcher-developed demographic form were employed. To make analysis on the data, MANOVA test was used. The results indicated that there was a significant difference between al components of identity styles (informative, normative, diffuse-avoidance) with less than 0.01 level of significance between male addicts and non-addicts.
