Journal Title: MedPulse -International Medical Journal - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 11

Abstract

Aim: To compare keratometric findings in phacoemulsification after temporal clear corneal and superior sclero corneal incision. Methods: Perspective, Randomized controlled observational trial. A total of 96 patients of senile cataract undergoing phcoemulsification by the same surgeon were randomly grouped into 2 – 48 underwent sclero corneal and 48 clear corneal. The pre-op keratometry and post op keratometry at 1st & 3rd -month was done and compared. Results: After 3 month majority of patients had less than 1 Dioptre change in both groups which was 54.17 % and 87.5 % respectively. Conclusion: The incision through either temporal clear cornea or superior scleral tunnel in phacoemulcification shows no statistic difference in astigmatism change on keratometry 3-month postop.
