Conflicts with the Law of Former Pupils of Youth Educational Centers
Journal Title: Resocjalizacja Polska - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue 10
Abstract
In 2012, the criminal records were examined of 196 former pupils of three youth educational centres who stayed there in the years 2005–2006. In light of data from the National Criminal Record, up to the age of 20 years, 69.4% were convicted by the courts, of whom 71% had already been in prison or detention centre. The highest risk of conflict with the law occurs up to the age of 19. Juveniles, who were removed from the register of the institution due to absence, more frequently and earlier come into conflict with the law than those who leave the institution as a result of a court decision. The obtained data were discussed in the context of social rehabilitation in correctional facilities.
