CONJUGATE MIXED CONVECTION THROUGH PERFORATED EXTENDED SURFACES

Abstract

Some important results of experimental studies on perf orated fins with different configurations having equal weight are presented. This study wa s performed by considering effect of both c onduction and mixed convection for extended surfaces with different configurations. An experimental set – up was designed a nd fabricated for the purpose. A uniform heat generation and equal weight of fins are maint ained for the comparison. Different types of fin configurations viz., solid, hollow, solid pin fin with a single perforation solid pin fin with four perforations an d solid fin with knurling , having equal weight are considered for the study. A comparative study has been done on the performance of fins used in various applications. Further an effect heat transfer parameters on perforated fin were discussed in detail.
