CONTOVERSIAL DRUGS (SANDHIGDHA DRAVYAS) IN AYURVEDA- A SHORT REVIEW

Abstract
Sandhigdha dravyas (controversial drugs) are the drugs which possess controversy related to their identification by means of nomenclature. As Ayurvedic literature is the widest range of ancient literature, includes thousands of Dravyas and their relative formulations.Every ancient knowledge transfer from one generation to another by means of manuscripts; Ayurvedic literature were wrote on Talpatras and Bhurjapatras, as there was no printing presses were available, men were entrusted to copy these writing and it is they who made many mistakes which leads to Sandhigdhata related to Dravyas. Controversial plants have their roots in the past. India is very vast country, consists of various languages, various dialects, various types of persons. So, naturally one plant was known by various names in various parts of the country. “In Ayurvedic texts there is reference which states that)” After every 12 Yojan distance there was different languages, texture related to peoples as well their way of leaving was observed. By means of controversy (Sandhigdhata) related to Dravyas affects the Chikitsa Padhhati. In this article, Sandhigdha dravyas and methods to overcome the controversies related to it, is focused.
