Convergences between Dewey and Hernández -An analysis of pedagogical approaches
Journal Title: Prohominum - Year 2024, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
John Dewey's educational theory revolutionized the approach to learning by advocating active and meaningful education based on experience. Dewey advocated problem-based learning, in which students engage in real-world situations to explore, experiment, andsolve practical problems. Fernando Hernández, for his part, proposes a pedagogical approach with interdisciplinary projects that encourages the creation of deep and contextualized learning experiences. Its methodology emphasizes interdisciplinarity as a tool to create knowledge from the interaction between different disciplines. The convergence between the theories of Dewey and Hernández focuses on the importance of active learning, the connection with real life and the formation of committed citizens. Both theorists seek to overcome disciplinary barriers and emphasize the need to adapt education to social and cultural changes, thus offering a rich perspective for a dynamic educational environment, placing the student at the center of the learning process and promoting a meaningful and contextualized education
