Correlation of Diabetes Mellitus and Thyroid Pathology (Literature Review)

Abstract

Thyroid diseases and both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus are closely linked, which is of great clinical importance in the determination of insulin sensitivity and requirements for treatment. The review reflects the genetic, pathophysiological and clinical aspects of this problem. In addition, there is information about the additional effect of metformin in suppressing the level of thyroid stimulating hormone.
