Crime Prevention Dreams and Nightmares in Risk Societies. Beware the Greeks Bearing Security Gifts

Abstract
Nowadays, crime prevention means many intervention strategies directed towards the reduction of causes and opportunities for criminal activities before they occur. In the European Union the issue of anti-criminal policy has been the target of many special programs, but there does not exist a unified anti-criminal policy yet. In the present article the prevention policies of various European countries are examined and the fear of crime and its management are analysed in particular.
