CRITERIA APPROACH TO THE FORMATION OF HEALTH CULTURE OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN REPRESENTING DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS

Abstract

Criteria approach to the formation of health culture of preschool children representing different age groups is revealed in the article. It is indicated that the «component» is a part of something, and the «criterion» is a basis for the assessment, identification or classification of something. The characteristics of the components, criteria and indicators of formation of health culture of preschool children representing different age groups have been given. These components of the formation of health culture of preschool children representing different age groups have been specified: epistemological - awareness of the need for forming health culture; motivational - positive attitude to their own health; assimilation of the healthy behavioural instructions received from a productive cooperation with the teacher; interaction of needs and motives for forming the health culture activities under the supervision of an adult; behaviour-and-activity - following the rules of behaviour that contribute into the preservation and strengthening of health; formation of the hygienic skills which are necessary to maintain their health during the process of education; mastering the system of methods and means of independent activities aimed at physical and mental improvement of the organism. The criteria of the formation of health culture of preschool children representing different age groups have been chosen for: the epistemological component - information and knowledge criteria (indicators: awareness of health and a healthy way of life, familiarity with the rules of personal hygiene, familiarity with health factors); the motivational component - emotional and evaluative criteria (indicators: a positive attitude towards one’s health, awareness of the need to form the health culture, the desire to preserve one's health); behavioural-activity component - assesment-reflexive criteria (indicators: existence of an adequate self-assessment of one’s own health culture, existence of adequate mutual assessment of other children’s health culture). The diagnostic methods enabling the formation of the health culture of preschool children representing different age groups for the epistemological, motivational and behavioural-activity components have been described. The levels of the health culture of preschool children representing different age groups have been characterized (high, medium, low). There have been given the quantitative results of the health culture of preschool children representing different age groups obtained during the ascertaining stage of the experiment which provide the basis for the development of specific activities aimed at forming the health culture of preschool children representing different age groups.
