CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING GEOTHERMAL PROJECTS VERSUS FINANCIAL SUPPORT THEIR EXECUTING
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2010, Vol 439, Issue 439
Abstract
Geothermal energy use development is hampered by legal, technological and economic barriers. Economic barrier is the most significant among them and is especially felt during the drilling stage of the first borehole. This stage is associated with the risk of failure to achieve the assumed geological and reservoir parameters as well as the lost of usually very high costs incurred by the investor for drilling operations. To reduce this risk various methods of financial support have been used in the world, from grants through the loans to the insurance. The paper presents a proposal of an evaluation of geothermal projects in order to diversify them during the process of public support inthe form of grants.
