CROP INSURANCE, THE IMPORTANCE OF FARMERS’ EXPERIENCE

Abstract

The level of crop insurance is very low in Poland, in 2013 it was only 3.4 million hectares. The influence of the characteristics of the farm and of the farmer on decision of crop insuring, with particular emphasis on the history of crop insurance in the farm was investigated. For that purpose the multiple logistic regression model with a binary dependent variable indicating purchasing crop insurance by a farmer in 2014 was applied. The analysis confirmed the dominant influence of farmer’s experience in the insurance of crops in previous years.
