Cryptanalysis of An Advanced Authentication Scheme
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 10
Abstract
In this paper we study a scheme for making cryptanalysis and security improvement. This protocol by Song, is a password authentication protocol using smart card. We note that this protocol has been shown to be prone to the offline password guessing attack. We perform an additional cryptanalysis on this scheme and detect that it is vulnerable to the clogging attack, a type of denial-of-service attack. We notice that all smart card typed authentication schemes which lead the scheme by Song, and need the server to find the computationally exhaustive modular exponentiation, similar to the scheme by Xu et al., and it is vulnerable to the clogging attack. Then we propose an enhancement in the scheme to avoid the clogging attack.

Survey of Nearest Neighbor Condensing Techniques
The nearest neighbor rule identifies the category of an unknown element according to its known nearest neighbors’ categories. This technique is efficient in many fields as event recognition, text categorization and objec...
Harmonics Measurement in Computer Laboratory and Design of Passive Harmonic Filter using MATLAB
In this paper the harmonics measurement for computer loads is analyzed and passive filters are designed for mitigating those harmonics. The filters are designed to meet the IEEE standard 519-1992 which is recommended for...
Implementation of a Formal Software Requirements Ambiguity Prevention Tool
The success of the software engineering process depends heavily on clear unambiguous software requirements. Ambiguity refers to the possibility to understand a requirement in more than one way. Unfortunately, ambiguity i...
An Efficient Algorithm for Load Balancing in Multiprocessor Systems
A multiprocessor system is a computer with two or more central processing units (CPUs) with each one sharing the common main memory as well as the peripherals. Multiprocessor system is either homogeneous or heterogeneous...
