Current Approaches to the Diagnosis and Screening for Metabolic Disorders in Patients with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Journal Title: Міжнародний ендокринологічний журнал - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 69
Abstract
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common pathology among all chronic liver diseases, which leads to poor quality of life, disability and death. According to current concepts, NAFLD is one of the components of metabolic syndrome that emphasize its relationship with type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases. This article summarizes the approaches to modern methods of instrumental and laboratory diagnosis of different stages of NAFLD. Also, attention is focused on the screening for metabolic disorders and evaluation of cardiovascular risk in this cohort of patients, because NAFLD is an early predictor of these pathological conditions.
