CURRENT DESIGN OF THE EU ELECTRICITY MARKETS: THE CHALLENGE FOR UKRAINE

Abstract
The main elements of the design of EU electricity markets are considered. Among them are composition of market actors, forms of wholesale trading and time-scale segments of the market. It has been established that the most developed electricity markets are characterized by a sufficient number of participants, as wholesalers and as wholesale buyers, who sell electricity at power exchange auctions as close to real time as possible.
