CURRENT STATE OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF GLIAL BRAIN TUMORS
Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 10
Abstract
Gliomas are one of the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system, and surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for gliomas of any grade. In this study, based on the introduction of gliomas, we review new surgical techniques and technologies to support the extent of resection to achieve long-term disease control and summarize the findings on how to maintain a balance between cytoreduction and neurological morbidity from the literature review. With modern neurosurgical techniques, glioma resection can be performed safely with a low rate of postoperative complications and excellent long-term functional outcomes.
