CURRENT TRENDS IN ELECTORAL GEOGRAPHY STUDIES IN THE WORLD AND DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTORAL GEOGRAPHY IN UKRAINE

Abstract
The paper aims to reveal opportunities to use contemporary methodological and theoretical contributions of the world electoral and interdisciplinary studies. The research is based on academic discourse analysis of the factors of electoral behavior and causality of electoral choice in the English literature in respect to Ukrainian context. The paper reveals geographical aspects of economic voting, funnel of causality model, Haidt’s moral foundations theory, clarifies the use of Lipset-Rokkan cleavages model, neighborhood effect, effect of friends and neighbors, the role of scale and place-as-context in electoral studies in Ukraine. Introduced theoretical and methodological studies create preconditions to increase quality of electoral geography studies in Ukraine.
