DEATH TABOO FROM SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE: PROBLEMS OF CONCEPTUALIZATION AND OPERATIONALIZATION

Abstract
The starting point of the article is the problem of a multitude of texts about death as a taboo. The possibility of ordering them in terms of the proposed criteria is discussed. An overview of the various aspects of the phenomenon reveals a fundamental axis that divides the approaches to the problem of the death taboo into two dominant groups: psychological and socio-cultural. In the further part, the author examines the possibilities of the empirical verification of a taboo thesis and also lists some difficulties which may be associated with them.
