DEEP STRUCTURE IN THE WAR STORIES

Abstract
There is a deep structure in each literary text. Between the lines the author gives main message, which he was hiding inside the fiction. In the language the phrase "reading between the lines" summarizes the deep structure. In his War Stories book, Murathan Mungan checks upon on the human nature. The author of uses the phrase “mankind betrays” as a light motive in his first story book “Şahmeran'ın Bacakları'. The utterances “How do you know yourself? True, it's my place, you are in my circumstances, but won’t the conditions of the earth change you? Won’t it force you to betray?” he said to "Belkiya in the story reveal the deep structure of human nature. The principal purpose Murathan Mungan wants to declare in the story War Stories is: There is human greed one cannot overcome; the power, passion and betrayal that cannot be rivaled within the human structure. For these reasons wars occur among humans and states.
