Denotate-nominative classification of English computer game names

Abstract
The nature and different types of computer game names are outlined in the present article with regard to the thins they denote, namely, computer games. Computer or electronic games have distinctive speech peculiarities, which attract the attention of researchers (including linguists), but they are scarcely studied in the realm of linguistics. The aim of the research is to characterize the denotate-nominative classification of computer game names in the English language. The proper names that denote objects from the virtual computer game worlds in the English language are the object of the research. Computer game names in the English language are the subject of the research. The descriptive and the taxonymic methods were games that belong to different genres on an aggregating website that summarizes user reviews for a particular game are the material of the research. The ability to function of different platforms is an integral part of electronic games, that is why we single out the platform paradigm. It must be noted that any gaming platform has the same architecture, a game console, for example is basically just a computer with a specialized operating system aimed at executing game programs. That is why we consider the terms computer game and electronic game to be synonyms. One more important characteristic of computer games is the ability to cooperate with other players or its absence, which is referred to as the mode paradigm. A thorough description of the denotate-nominative classification of computer game names according to three paradigms of their denotates (the platform, mode, and genre paradigm) is the result of the research. A significant contribution made by this research is the introduction of this novel sphere to the existing onomastic term system.
