Design and Analysis of Disc Coreless Permanent Magnet Integrated Starter and Generator with Non-uniform Magnetic Pole

Abstract
In order to improve the output characteristics and reduce the cost of integrated starter and generator ( ISG) , a non-uniform magnetic pole Halbach disc coreless permanent magnet integrated starter and generator was presented based on Halbach array permanent magnet theory and the three layers winding technology.Firstly, the structure and characteristics of ISG, and the calculation process of the electromagnetic field were analyzed. Secondly, taking the air gap magnetic field distribution as design goal, the three-dimensional finite element analysis software was used to optimize the structural parameters including the permanent magnet pole arc ratio, armature diameter ratio and yoke thickness of rotor. The results show that compared with the forecast structural parameters, the proportion of the primary and secondary magnetic poles of the permanent magnet is5∶ 2∶ 1∶ 2, and the fundamental magnetic density of the air-gap is increased by 9. 72%. Three layers winding is not only increase the effective length of side coil, but also improve the utilization rate of the air gap magnetic field. The overage value of the induced electromotive force is increased by 8%.
