Design and validation of instruments to determine the incidence of modifiable lifestyles in Nursing students

Abstract

Introduction:The lifestyles of citizens in general are deteriorating. The reasons are several, environment, work stress and bad eating habits or unhealthy diet. Nursing students face different changes in their eating habits during their years of study, whether due to their class schedules, practices, rotating internships, from the transfer of their place of residence, in which many have long hours of travel and even many are low-income and remain in education facilities for long hours. Objective:To validate the quantitative and qualitative instruments to determine the incidence in Modifiable Lifestyles of nursing students; analyzing the influence of their psychological aspects. Materials and methods:This study is of a mixed approach (quanti-qualitative), cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive and field; with a qualitative phenomenological approach designed by 3 categories and coded according to the number of participants. The population as a research sample is 100 people, of which a pilot study of 15 people was carried out for the Lifestyle II questionnaire and 1 person for the in-depth interview. Results:By applying the criteria of expert judgments, the following results were obtained: in the quantitative instrument an average of 100 was obtained and in the qualitative instrument an average of 95 was obtained, both results equivalent to very reliable. Conclusion:The pilot plan suggests that the instruments have good properties to determine the incidence of Modifiable Lifestyles of nursing students
