Design of a Haptic Cover for Mobile Devices for Persons with Visual Impairment
Journal Title: Revista Romana de Interactiune Om-Calculator - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 0
Abstract
In this article we will describe a method of interaction between a user with visual impairment and a mobile device. These users have a big disadvantage because the feedback offered by a common mobile device is mostly visual.Taking, for instance, blind users who wish to compose simple piano songs, we propose an application and a cover that will help them. The cover is specially designed for a mobile device with capacitive touchscreen. This cover is provided with embossed buttons, marked with Braille characters. It is made out of conductive foam that allows sending commands to the touch interface of the phone.
