DETECTION OF ESBL-PRODUCING ESCHERICHIA COLI AND KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE IN PATIENT SUFFERING WITH SYMPTOMATIC URINARY TRACT INFECTION IN TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL.
Journal Title: IJSR-International Journal Of Scientific Research - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 7
Abstract
Aim and objectives: This study is to determine the prevalence of Extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) in urinary isolates. To compare different phenotypic methods for ESBL detection and to evaluate the antibiotic resistance patterns among ESBL producing urinary Escherichia coli. Methodology: Urinary isolates of E.coli that were resistant to at least one of 3rd generation cephalosporins (cefotaxime, ceftazidime) were screened and tested for ESBL production using the Double disc diffusion test (DDDT), quantitative E-strip method and Automated Vitek-2. Result: A total of 341 Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli isolates were screened from patients with symptomatic UTI. 207 (60.7%) Escherichia coli, 134 (39.2%) Klebsiella pneumonia. ESBL production was detected in 48.8% and for 161 screening test positive E. coli, ESBL production was detected in 40%.

CHANGES IN THE HAEMODYNAMIC RESPONSE FOLLOWING ENDOTRACHEAL INTUBATION AND LARYNGEAL MASK AIRWAY INSERTION IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS- A COMPARATIVE STUDY
Endotracheal intubation with the help of a laryngoscope has become a routine part of delivering a general anaesthetic. In general, intubation is indicated for patients who are at risk of aspiration and for those undergoi...
RADIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF CARPAL INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH CONSERVATIVELY MANAGED FRACTURE OF DISTAL RADIUS.
Distal radius fracture is one of the most common fractures of the forearm and accounts for approximately 16% of all skeletal fractures. Distal radial fractures are associated with injuries to the TFCC and carpal ligament...
COMPARISON OF THREE DIFFERENT DOSES OF DEXMEDETOMIDINE AS ADJUVANT TO BUPIVACAINE IN SUPRA CLAVICULAR BRACHIAL PLEXUS BLOCK FOR UPPER LIMB ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERIES
BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The aim and objective of the study is to compare three different doses of dexmedetomidine and to know the optimal dose of dexmedetomidine as adjuvant to bupivacaine in supra clavicular brachial plexu...
ASSOCIATION OF CLASS I AND CLASS II HUMAN LEUKOCYTE ANTIGEN GENES WITH HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS INFECTION.
Background: Discernable genetic variation among people and populations has an important role in human immunodeciency virus (HIV) infections and acquired immune deciency syndrome (AIDS). Various human leukocyte antigens...
