Determination of a Comfort Class for Protective Clothing Based on Ergonomic Tests
Journal Title: Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe - Year 2019, Vol 27, Issue 5
Abstract
In addition to compliance with requirements concerning specific protective properties, protective clothing should also provide a sense of comfort to the user. No clearly identified evaluation criteria for the ergonomic properties of protective clothing is currently available. Methods applied do not allow for quantitative assessment of protective garments that enables to compare the various types of clothing. A new methodology of testing and ergonomic evaluation of protective clothing based on comparative studies of protective clothing versus reference clothing was developed herein. The use of reference garments enable a quantitative ergonomic assessment of protective clothing by placing it in an appropriate comfort class. Ergonomic studies in accordance with the methodology developed were carried out on two types of protective clothing, i.e. protective clothing for firefighters and clothing that protects against chemical agents. Based on these studies, the protective clothing was assigned to an appropriate comfort class.

Finite Element Modeling for the Uni-Axial Tensile Behaviour of Metallic Warp-Knitted Fabric
The finite element analysis method (FEM), for its advantages of lower time and economic costing in predicting the mechanical properties of fabrics, was applied to warp-knitted fabrics. In this paper, two bar warp-knitted...
Comparative Analysis of the Bursting Strength of Knitted Sandwich Fabrics
This study presents the mechanical properties of weft knitted sandwich fabrics (bursting strength) and the effect of the raw materials used. Two types of fabrics, with and without reinforcing yarns, were analysed. To det...
Surface Roughness Assessment of Woven Fabrics Using Fringe Projection Moiré Techniques
In this paper, a new approach is proposed for characterizing the surface roughness of woven fabrics. This approach is based on the fringe projection moiré techniques and analysis of the moiré pattern, which is caused by...
Investigation of the Effect of Pile Height and Yarn Linear Density on the Performance Properties of Pile Loop and Cut-Pile Loop Knit Fabrics
This paper investigates the effects of fabric structural parameters such as pile yarn linear density (19.7, 22.7 and 24.6 tex), ground yarn linear density (100 and 78 dtex), sinker height (2.2 sinker; 2.5 sinker and 2.8...
Immunization Effect of Sodium Aluminate on Wool
C.I. Reactive Black 5 (RB5) is the most commonly used dye in the textile industry. Ozone is a strong oxidan that can decompose many barely degradable pollutants, including dyes. Although there are many literature reports...
