Die deutschen Sprachinseln im Cholmer und Lubliner Land um die Wende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert

Abstract
The German colonies existing in Chełm and Lublin Land were enclaves, in terms of both language and religion. This was due to the fact that the Polonisation processes occurring there were much slower than in other cities. During World War I the colonies were destroyed and their population deported to Russia. After WWI the colonists began to rebuild their habitat and their existence as a cultural and religious society. In the 1920s and 1930s, the German colonies of the said territories became the interest of the “German East” explorers, who included it in the scope of research concerning the co called “Sprachinseln” in Eastern Europe.
