Die Life Prediction and Process of Cold Rotary Forging for Hypoid Gears

Abstract
In order to reduce production cost and increase production efficiency, the die life of the cold rotary forging was predicted and the process optimization was carried out. Stress and strain of the die in process of cold rotary forging was obtained by thermal-mechanical coupling finite element numerical simulation method, then the die life under specific process parameters was estimated by mathematical model of the die life estimation. According to calculation results, the die life under different combination of process parameters were analyzed, and influence law of various process parameters on die life was find out. The reasonable combination of the process parameters was determined. The research results show that when the upper die rotation speed, the upper die swing angle and the friction factor are 40 r•min-1, 10° and 0. 14 respectively, the die life reaches 21 464 times. The service life is significantly improved.
