ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ МУЗЕЮ АТЕЇЗМУ В м. УЖГОРОД (1973-1990 рр.)

Abstract
The article covers the stages of formation and activities of the Museum of Atheism in the city of Uzhhorod. The functions and significance of the mentioned museum in the educational role of society were determined within the framework of the ideology of that period. Using museum establishments, the state strived to provide the political education of citizens, to involve them in the state-building, to raise the general cultural level of the population. It is due to that fact, the value of museums in educational and ideological work among all the other institutions was extremely large, because considerable number of people of different ages, social status, occupation passed through them, and that allowed to familiarize practically all categories of the population with one or another issue. Thus, expanding of the anti-religious propaganda and atheistic education in the region was the result of the political & educational and agitational & propagandist activities of the Soviet power, and it was aimed at upbringing a man of a "new socialist society". And museums have become the effective means of implementation and realization of these tasks. The atheistic interpretation of history was definitely approved there, where the church acted as the ideological opponent. The Uzhhorod Museum of Atheism was formed in 1973 indoors the former Orthodox Church and named the Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism. Besides permanent exposition consisting of 5 sections, the museum was using popular methods of work of that time, which included discussions, exhibitions, lectures that explained the origin of a man and religion from the scientific point of view. Thus, at the investigated period, the museum was perceived as a leader of the cultural revolution and communist ideology, and one of its main functions was ideological. But despite the fact that the Museum of Atheism was eliminated in 1990, nevertheless it played a great positive role in collection and preserving tremendously valuable cultural and artistic values of the region, including preservation of the architectural monument in which it was located.
