DIRECTIONS OF ACTIVITY OF THE KHARKIV DISTRSCT OF THE “KNOWLEDGE” COMPANY IN 1947–1975

Abstract
The article deals with the issues of the activities of Kharkiv regional branch of the “Knowledge” society in the con- text of its role in providing continuous lecture work, systemic forms of knowledge propaganda (lecture cycles, lectures at universities, workshops, collective farms, publication and selection of printed materials for the population, etc.) to create a system of continuous education of citizens, to increase the cultural, scientific and educational level and to promote the ruling party of the wider population at that time. “Knowledge” society of Ukraine, in terms of popularization of knowledge and education among the population, can be an example of a stakeholder at the present stage of modernization of the educational branch in the conditions of devel- opment of the European direction. The experience of this society can be applied in modern conditions, when for the nation the educational and scientific development becomes of paramount importance. Therefore, the study of the activities of the society “Knowledge” has an important aspect, including in the regional context. It is now that the education sector is at the center of attention of researchers working on the substantiation of the main principles of education, studying and generalizing the historical experience of the scientific and educational organiza- tions for the use of positive and taking into account the negative factors in the process of reforming the education system in Ukraine in accordance with the new Law of Ukraine “On Education” (2017).
