Abstract
The World History of Emergency Medicine Dominique Jean Larrey, the French surgeon, proposed the ambulance theory during the French Revolution and following the experiences he had gained in transporting war casualties in the field at that time. He equipped these early ambulances with drivers, gravediggers and stretcher carriers. Because of the strategies that he adopted during the French wars, Dr. Larry is today called the "Father of Emergency Medicine".
