E -; Learning Materials in Mathematics Eight

Abstract

This descriptive - developmental paper determined the effectiveness of E -; Learning Materials in Mathematics Eight. The study aimed to develop and validate the E - Learning Materials in Mathematics Eight at Don Jose M. Ynares Sr. Memorial National High School during the School Year 2020 - 2021. The output covered the least mastered competencies in Grade 8 Mathematics such as Illustrating Rational Algebraic Expressions, Simplifying, Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Similar and Dissimilar Rational Algebraic Expressions. The included topics in this material were anchored on the performance of the Grade 8 learners in the School Achievement Test which were obtained during the School Year 2019 - 2020.In detail, this study used descriptive - developmental as well as one - shot pretest - posttest experimental research design, adapted and modified a questionnaire checklist considering content, objectives, usefulness, user - friendliness and applicability for teacher - respondents and a validated teacher - made questionnaire -; checklist focusing on appearance and presentation, sound, and voice over, and animations for the ICT experts. Fifty (50) Grade 8 visual learners were the subject - participants of the study. This application ;E - Learning Materials in Mathematics for Grade 8 Learners is an application containing specific video lessons and quizzes about Rational Algebraic Expressions which allows the students to study the lesson interactively without the help of the teacher. It is composed of the following parts: The Begin Button; The Reset Button reveals data reset tab; Home Button; Info; More Lesson; Assessments (Pre - Test, Post - Test); X; Score Page and Play Button. The e - learning materials are specially designed for the teachers to encourage learners to learn the lesson interactively with or without the use of the internet. The study presented that the learners' level of performance in Mathematics improved after having been exposed to the learning materials. Moreover, thirty (30) teacher - respondents were randomly selected from the Division of Rizal to evaluate the e - learning materials which were found out to be Very Much Acceptable (VMA) in terms of content, objectives, usefulness, user - friendliness and applicability. In general, the performance of the learners before and after exposure to the e - learning materials differed significantly. Therefore, the use of the crafted E - Learning Materials in Mathematics Eight was effective in enhancing the Grade 8 students' performance under the selected least mastered competencies. This will help them accomplish better in this subject.
