Ecological Risk Implementation Costs in Mining Production in Poland in the Context of Emission of Air Pollution

Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej w Poznaniu - Year 2018, Vol 79, Issue 2

Abstract

The main goal of this article is to identify, analyze and assess the cost of ecological risk implementation in Polish mining industry in the years 2008-2015. To implement such a goal, the first part of the article analyses the sources of environmental risk originating in the activity of Polish coal mines. Next, in the second part, identified risk sources are assigned environmental costs associated with their implementation. The assessment of environmental costs was made with the use of statistical structures and dynamics indices, as well as historical trends. This assessment was presented in an unconditional perspective, referring to the total ecological costs and in conditional perspective, calculated per tonne of the extracted raw material. This assessment made it possible to verify the following working theories: T1: With the decrease of coal extraction in Poland, the ecological risk intensity decreases and T2: With the decrease of coal extraction in Poland, the ecological risk implementation costs decrease.
