Economic and Technical Comparison of CornStalks and Banana Peelfor Electricity Production from WastesBiogas

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 6

Abstract

Organic materials, human, plant and animal wastes are recyclable and under particular conditions, methane gas could be produced out of them. The result of analysis reactions that has invented methods for converting human and animal wastes, has become popular as the biogas biotechnology. In this article, twoplant materials including residue ofbanana peel andcorn stalks have been examined and compared. The results showed thatresidue of bananapeelare more economicalbecause of the potential of biogas production from banana peel is about 2.9 times of biogas- production potential fromcorn stalks . Also from the view of producing electricity ofthe resultant methane arealso characteristics for producing much more energy than the corn stalks residue. It showing that banana peel is a suitable source of energy for many countries that have large volume of banana peel wastes.
