EDUCATIONAL STREAM PROJECT IN THE COURSE OF MATHEMATICS OF PEDAGOGICAL HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT

Abstract
The article is devoted to finding a solution to the problem of reducing the students’ interest to natural and mathematical and technical disciplines, low motivation of the school graduates to the choice of engineering professions, which led to a deterioration in the quality of their training in higher education establishments and a shortage of specialists in high-tech industries. One of the ways out of the current situation is seen in the implementation of STEM education into the practice of educational institutions from preschool to higher. An overview of scientific literature dealing with the STEM education problem has made it possible to conclude that STEM oriented education has recently attracted considerable interest of researchers, but in the pedagogical university it is mostly theoretical. The purpose of this article is to study the peculiarities of modern STEM education and to find out the didactic peculiarities of its realization on the example of the educational project at university. The authors have developed the STREAM educational project “Time and its Measurement”, which is connected with the study of the theme “Values” in the course of mathematics by students of the bachelor level of higher education specialty 013 Primary education through the educational and professional program “Primary Education”. This educational project allows you to integrate the students’ knowledge from different disciplines while solving real problems. Students get the task of exploring the concept of “Time”, analysing different approaches to its interpretation, deepening knowledge of biological clock and studying the history of the emergence and development of tools for measuring time. They analyse programmes, textbooks of primary school for the establishment of interdisciplinary connections with the theme “Time”, make a laptop, create a cartoon and a demonstration clock model. It is noted that the participation of future teachers in the STEM / STEAM / STREAM projects is one of the prerequisites for the active introduction of STEM education in the educational process of schools, because development and formation of the ability and readiness to solve complex tasks, critical thinking, creativity, cognitive flexibility, cooperation, management, implementation of innovation activities take place in this activity. The task of modern higher pedagogical education is to train a teacher to be motivated to self-developing and improving his or her professional competencies, capable of interdisciplinary relationships, and who can organize the educational process as an interaction of equal participants.
