Effect of EDTA on reducing tissue cadmium bioaccumulation and cadmium antagonism related to some mineral micro- and macronutrients in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Abstract
EDTA is a chelating agent used deliberately in various fields (pulp and paper industry, detergents industry, food industry, medicine, biomedical labs) in order to sequester metal ions which have harmful effects in many processes as well as in obtaining of many products. Taking as starting point the EDTA property to form metal-EDTA complexes we decided to test its effectiveness in mobilizing of the contaminant metal ions, especially cadmium from tissue of Prussian carp specimens subjected to chronic poisoning with cadmium acetate. At the same time we investigated the EDTA ability to reduce the known cadmium antagonism exhibited vis-à-vis some essential macro-and microminerals.

Diversity of lampreys and fishes of the Upper Vistula River drainage, Poland: present state and future challenges.
There have been some 57 lamprey and fish species recorded in the Upper Vistula River drainage (S-E Poland). Among these there are a number of species-complexes (Carassius auratus, Gobio gobio, Cobitis taenia) with unreso...
Cell morphological and biochemical studies of the sperm on a rainbow trout brood stock,<br /> Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum, 1972)
The purpose of these studies consists in the evaluation of the fecundity capacity of the sperm at rainbow male trout correlated with the individual cell-morphological, physical and biochemical characteristics of the sper...
Receiver-bias implicated in the nonsexual origin of female mate choice in the pentamorphic fish Poecilia parae Eigenmann, 1894
Receiver-bias hypotheses of signal evolution posit that male sexually selected traits evolve via prior selection for other functions. We found support for the hypothesis that the origin of female choice of mates is a lin...
Economical issues on production of roes in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) for consumption
The capitalization of the salmonid production is mainly made through fish meat by various types of meat products, but from the trout roes are also successfully marketed. In Romania, the most trout farms prefer to import...
Fish species identification based on its acoustic target strength using in situ measurement.
The purpose of this study is fish species identification using acoustic target strength (TS). In situ measurement has been deployed at the South China Sea of Terengganu Malaysia using Furuno FQ80 Scientific Echo Sounder...
