Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2023, Vol 7, Issue 5
Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of using downloaded films vs conventional teaching techniques to help kindergarteners develop their phonemic awareness. This study utilized a quasi-experimental research design using two groups of respondents and used a researcher-made questionnaire. The researcher gave it to both the experimental and control groups. Frequency and percentage, mean and Independent T-test, Paired T-test, and analysis of covariance were the statistical techniques employed in the study (ANCOVA). Between the two groups, there was a fairly big variation in the respondents' posttest results. The outcome showed that the students in the downloaded video group outperformed those in the comparative group in terms of incomparably higher performance. This implied that there had been a noticeable improvement in scores in the downloaded video group when compared to the instruction comparative group. The study found that kindergarteners were more engaged in their learning when they used downloadable films to help them build phonemic awareness. According to the collected data, using downloaded video instruction to enhance phonemic awareness had a positive impact and considerably improved the students' performance. Thus, it was recommended that the soft copy of downloaded videos as an output of this study could be used by kindergarten teachers in developing the phonemic awareness specifically to the young learners.
